What We Do

Carebear Playhouse provides intensive behavioral health services for youth ages 12-18 who are navigating trauma, mental health challenges, and systemic barriers. We combine evidence-based clinical treatment with hip-hop culture, peer support, and radical love.

Our program runs Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm, offering:

  • Individual and group therapy (trauma-focused CBT, DBT, EMDR)

  • Peer support from people with lived experience

  • Family therapy and caregiver coaching

  • Music production, expressive arts, and cultural programming

  • Case management and system navigation support

We serve youth involved in foster care, juvenile justice, special education, and families seeking alternatives to traditional mental health care.

Is Carebear Playhouse Right for My Child?

Your child might benefit from our program if they are:

  • Struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, or behavioral challenges

  • Involved with DSS, foster care, or juvenile justice

  • Not connecting with traditional therapy

  • Dealing with trauma from violence, abuse, loss, or systemic oppression

  • Needing more support than weekly therapy but don't require hospitalization

We accept NC Medicaid and work with families to remove barriers like transportation and school coordination.
